Facebook changes page design!

Facebook just changed its pages interface. As it was up to the user to change to the new profile design, again admins can choose to upgrade or to keep the old design.
Basically the new design follows the main changes that where done with the personal profiles.

The navigation bar moves to the right, giving it a similar look to personal profiles.

The page photos (not user uploaded ones) are shown on top, equal to personal profiles.

With the old design it was possible to choose which posts where shown PAGE NAME + Others; Just PAGE NAMEJust Others. Now there are only 2 options:

1.     ▪ Everyone – Top posts are shown, both from users and page (I am not sure if top posts are determined
with the EdgeRank algorithm or just according to the feedback)
2.     ▪ Page Name – Only posts made by the page are shown

Facebook admins can set a default filter. The Just Others option is not available anymore.

The new design comes a long with a lot of great features admins have been waiting for.
Admins can now:

Get notifications when fans interact with your page or posts
See activity from the pages you like in your news feed
Like other pages and feature them on your page
Make comments as your page on other pages

Finally it is possible to comment as a person on a page someone is admin for. (To do so someone only has to click use Facebook as PERSON NAME on the right corner.)

The moderation blacklist is an other great tool. Admins can enter certain words they want to have blocked on their page. Especially big pages are facing a lot of “ make online money” spam comments. Now these could easily be blocked. Also comments including competitors names might be blocked.

Although the new pages have a lot of benefits I would recommend waiting with the upgrade.

Why?
The typical Facebook user needs time to handle new design and to get used to new features. As the human is driven by habits and especially online people don’t like to spend much time to get used to something new, it is likely that users leave your page if they don’t understand the new design at the first try.
I recommend to wait a bit until most pages have changed to the new design and people are used to it.
